The Faun’s Realm is a three years long project that I’ve been working to. I’ve been inspired by the Greek myths of the Fauns, magical being who lived in the woods, often depicted as lustful creatures, not infrequently drunk, nearly always depicted with (exaggerated) erect phalli or in erotic poses. When my models, usually common people, come in my studio for the photo session, I have them wear these pair of real goat horns, that I inherited from my grandfather who was a butcher. After a chat about the project and what I expect from them to do, I ask them to undress and to free the faun within them and act without refrain in front of the camera.
Nicolas the Faun is the son of a fallen god. He barely escaped the stony stare of Medusa but left him half scarred. Banished from his beloved land, he now inhabits the undergrounds of the city of Paris with his little tribe of outcasts and forgotten by society. They entertain and guide the poor souls who happens to get lost in the labyrinthine tunnels of the borough and comfort them by singing:
“Fly me to the moon, fly me to a star                                                                                                                                                                            But there are no stars in the Paris’s sky                                                                        They're all underground."
